How Big Is Space?

Space is so huge it hard to imagine.  I got this info from HERE   This is help you to see the incredible difficulty we have getting about in the solar system.

In our model, 1 inch = 100,000 miles, 4 times around the world.

The sun is the size of a volley ball, and earth the size of a peppercorn (.08")

The Sun = Volley ball placed on the goal line of a football field

Mercury is a pinhead on the 10 yard line..

Venus is a peppercorn on the 19 yard line.

Earth is a peppercorn on the 26 yard line.

Mars is pinhead on the 39 yard line.   ( It takes ~18-24 months or so to get from the 26 yard line to the 39th)

Jupiter is a pecan on the 136 yard line!

Saturn is a hazelnut on the 250 yard line.

Remember 1" = 100,000 miles.

Uranus is a pistachio nut on the 503 yard line.  This is more than 1/4 mile.

Neptune is a pistachio on the 781 line.

Pluto, at its farthest is on the 1004 yard line, a little or 1/2 mile.

The nearest star is 4200 miles away.

Our nearest galaxy, Andromeda, is only 2,500,000 miles away - with an inch equal to 100,000 miles.

I hope you will appreciate the tremendous task it is to send a small satellite from that peppercorn on the 26 yard line (which is spinning 1000 mph) to get the hazelnut 110 yards away (which is also moving through space at the same time!)
